It was a magic moment.  I arrived at the river with two very pretty girls for a photo session.  This is the first thing I saw as I got out of the car.  I've seen these river horses before, kayaking down the river.  This was the first shot of the session.  This is what the Red Mountain Brumby cycling club is named after - these magnificent horses.

Friday mornin' farmin'

This morning I had to deliver a couple of young men to another part of the valley for a conference.  On the way back, I spotted these men out working in the field, backlit by the early morning sun.  This is about a mile from my home so upon arriving home, I grabbed my camera and headed back to the field.  This is the resulting image - Quintessentially Queen Creek.

Sacred Grove and Palmyra, New York Temple from Smith family farm.

This shot shows the Sacred Grove in Palmyra, New York.  The perspective is from between the old Smith log cabin and the Smith Frame house.  This is the fence along the property that separates the small path or road between the two houses.  This view is slightly southwest and looks right into the Sacred Grove.

Here is a shot of the Palmyra Temple looking from the northeast to the southwest.  The Temple faces east and from the Sacred Grove you can look west to see the top of the temple peeking through a gap in the trees that have been trimmed for that purpose.

Here is the view from the grove looking east toward the temple.  I understand there is one window on the west side of the temple that is clear glass so you can see the natural temple of the grove from inside the modern temple.

Night Sight

After a family shoot last night, I stayed on location for a few minutes to get a shot for me.  One for thee and one for me.  After six years here in the desert, I must admit that I'm gaining an appreciation for the rugged beauty that is only a few miles from our humble little home.  I titled this one - San Tan Sentinel.

President George Washington called this estate home.  If you've never had the chance to visit it, I encourage you to put it on your itinerary next time you're in Virginia.

Quiet Corner in Queen Creek

one just a little larger than most, click it and click it again.

Sometimes I get lucky and stumble on a really interesting shot.  This is one of those.  The photographer shouldn't really say too much about his or her photos.  It should be left up to the observer - beauty really is in the eye of the beholder, so I won't say much, just that there are a lot of really nice things going on in this shot.  Like I say, I got lucky.  I'm making a large print for myself.  I titled this shot - Headin' Home.

San Diego is a nice place for a wedding.

 While waiting for the festivities to begin, I managed to snap a few maritime photos.

Ahh, sunset in the QC

Returning from a shoot the other day (Nelsons) I saw this pile of hay bales. The sun was getting low, so I drove out into the field and waited for the sun to set. The resulting image reminded me of a mystical monument - sort of a Stonehenge of Queen Creek.

Tonight at Sunset

Out toward Canyon Lake you can watch the sun set over the mountains. Just beyond these hills is the city of Mesa Arizona and beyond that is the 5th largest city in the country, Phoenix. Here are a couple of shots from tonight's mini-adventure.

Phoenix Sunset

Here is the view one evening recently from a hill overlooking the east valley and on in to Phoenix. You may be able to make out several landmarks, including the high rise buildings downtown.


This one is pretty small here, but the original is 36 inches long and quite detailed. You need to stop by to see it.

Here is one that is not so ambitious - many fewer frames were used in this one - only nine images were used in this pano. The one above has 30 images stitched and melded together.

Mt Vernon - Home of George Washington

Visiting my daughter and son-in-law AND my new granddaughter in Virginia last week, I took a little time to see some of the sights. I'm reading a book on John Adams right now and am learning for the first time really, just what an amazing man he was. While in the mood for founding fathers, I visited Mt Vernon, the home of our first president. I've been here before and felt an almost spiritual reverence as I toured the grounds and in particular the room where this singular man passed away, at the relatively young age of 67. I'm editing some images from his estate and will be adding them to my collection (hopefully ready to come out before Christmas).



I have a panoramic shot of the view of the Potomac River from the other side of the house and hopefully I'll get that edited and posted tomorrow.
