20th and 21st Centuries juxtaposed

What is that saying about boys and their toys?

Butler Beauty

One of the Mesa Butler clan that I had fun photographing the other day. Don't hate her because she's so fit.

Teen-age conversations

I met this very cute young lady at a family Christmas party - the friend of my young first cousin once removed. She was delightful, to be sure. She was also staying in touch with other parties in other parts of town.

Christmas Tennis

This is what people do here in Arizona on Christmas Day - Tennis anyone?

First Christmas

Mads & Santa

Google Favorite Place???

Well, this is sort of cool. Last week I got a letter from Google in the mail. I let it sit the requisite 3 or 4 days before opening and when I did get around to it, I found that I have enough Google hits on my web site that they (Google) sent me a sticker to put in my window to prove I'm a Google "Favorite Place".

I can log on to their web site and see the amount of traffic that I get based on Google searches. Also, people are supposed to be able to take a photo of the bar code in the lower right corner with their cell phone camera and then do something very clever with it, but they didn't quite explain just how that worked.

In any event, I wanted to share this distinct honor and high accomplishment (ha, ha) with all my friends and customers (actually customers quickly become friends).

Cheers,
Bruce

Long Beach Baldwins

The Baldwins were back in town and while they were here we slipped away to grab some photos of this very handsome family. Here are a few from the session. If you know these Arizona expatriates, you'll be surprised at how much the kids have grown and how much mom & dad are still young and good looking - how do they do it?

Denver Colorado Temple

The Denver Temple - I flew into town, grabbed a rental car and drove out to the temple. I had 45 minutes to shoot the temple and then hurry back to the airport to grab another flight to another town to shoot another temple. I remember this trip - nine temples in five states in four days.

At the risk of some horn-tooting, let me show you the before and after of this particular image. The first one is right out of the camera, the second one is after some serious editing. I do this for a couple of reasons. First to assure my customers that I do know a little about editing images, second, to convince folks that you DO want your photos edited, and third, you DO want a seasoned professional photographer to get it right for you.

Now, don't be the first to say they don't see any differences between the two images. It's 12:15 in the morning and sitting in my editing chair for so long this evening I'm loosing feeling in my left leg and I'm hearing songs for the second and third time on Pandora (send me your email address and I'll send you my very cool and highly enhanced Shannon Hurley Pandora station).

Everyone's gone to bed (again) and the place is dark and still. I do it because I love it. I hope you enjoy the fruits of my labors. I enjoy bringing it to you.

As always - click to enlarge.

Photo FUNdamentals class - January 9, 2010

Every so often I offer a basic photography class for digital SLR owners. It will cover some fundamentals about how cameras work so, armed with knowledge, you can adapt to different situations and improve the quality of your photos.

We'll learn practical things you can start using immediately to get more pleasing and artistic photos. We go outside and shoot a couple of times and then view our images for comment and friendly critiquing.

Lunch and snacks are on me. We meet from 9am to 4pm.

I keep the class size small so there is time for one-on-one coaching. I limit the number of students to 8 and I have two open seats in this class.

If you would like more information please shoot me an email or give me a call.

Thanks
Bruce

Cheerleading in the park

I had just finished up a shoot for a family and as I was leaving, I ran in to these cheerleaders from a local high school engaged in a casual photo shoot. The mother of one of the girls was changing a battery in her camera so I offered to take a few photos; they agreed to smile. That's what I call a win-win situation.

Blue bride

The wedding was a little bit ago, and I'm getting some of Rikki & Paulsen's photos ready for them.

Seminar photo shoot

Attended a PPA seminar the other day with Tony Corbell - lighting wizard. Here are a few shots from the workshop.

About Me

My photo
Queen Creek, Arizona, United States
Here is where I post images from recent shoots and occasional personal info that I like to share with my friends. I will slowly add photos from old shoots as I have time. Check back from time to time to see what's new. Call or email if you'd like to chat about a photo opportunity. If you've come to visit, please just leave a brief comment. You don't have to like the photos, just let me know you were here. I'd really appreciate it.
